Places to Visit in Jaipur

Jaipur, the capital of the Land of the Kings, Rajasthan is indeed the vigorous blend of the old and the new culture. Amer Fort

Bolstered on the peak of the Aravalli ranges, the Amer fort is situated. This fort was built by Raja Man Singh in 1592 AD. It’s famous for its maze-like passages, serpentine stairs, several gateways and extraordinary architecture on the walls and gates of the fort. Situated at only 11 km from the City Jaipur, this fort was built in pink and yellow sandstones and bears important historical evidence on its own.

Nahargarh Fort

Embellished with intricate carvings and the work on stones, Nahargarh fort is one such splendid and amazing fort, built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh in 1734 AD on the Aravalli hills. The breathtaking views and picturesque beauty from the top of this fort is such a haven for the photography lovers. This place consists of separate places for both Royal women and men as “Zenna” and the “Mardana Mahal”. Another important sightseeing spot is the Nahargarh Biological park, which is a home for many exotic wildlife.

Jaigarh Fort

Named as the Fort of Victory, this Jaigarh fort is the bearer of the World’s largest cannon jaivana. This fort was originally built for the storage of weapons and the artillery. And this fort has been evident for many historical wars. Situated at distance of 3km from the Jaipur, this is a highly fortified fort built by the Rajas Sawai Jai Singh II in 1726 AD.

Hawa Mahal

A magnificent representation of the affluent architectural maestro depicting the glorious past, Hawa Mahal is a must-visit tourist destination in Jaipur. Constructed under the patronage of Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799AD, this place is called the “Palace of Wind”. It has almost thousands of windows and beautifully engraved balconies built only for the purpose of Royal Rajput women to enjoy the processions on the streets without coming down to the streets.

Jal Mahal

Placed in the middle Mansagar lake, this Jal Mahal depicts the landscape beauty of Jaipur. Built by Maharaja Jai Singh in the 18th Century, this place was famous as a hunting lodge and the summer retreat. The magnificently decorated hallways and walls of this palace and the enchanting fragrance of the Chameli Bagh are the key attraction points of Jal Mahal. This place is also the habitat of the migratory birds like grey heron, white-browed wagtail and blue-tailed bee-eaters.

City Palace

Located in the midst of this Jaipur city, The City palace is the epicenter of the tourist attraction and one of the best places to visit in the Old Jaipur city. Built under Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh during 1729-32 AD, this large place is divided into several courtyards, buildings, lush gardens and decorated gates and pillars. This palace consists of several buildings like Chandra Mahal, Mubark Mahal etc. which shows some of the unique handcrafted decorative items which belong to the royal heritage.

Jantar Mantar

Ranked amongst the largest astronomical observatories of the World, Jantar Mantar is the home of the largest sundial of the world. Built under the patronage of the Maharaja Jai Singh II because of his quench of thirst for the knowledge of astronomy, this place attracts astronomers and architects of the world to visit here and witness the magnificence of this place. The specialty of this place is that the instruments which allow the observers to witness the position of heavenly bodies with their naked eyes.

Alber Hall Museum

Albert Museum is the perfect example of the Indo-Arsenic style architecture. Named after the Prince of Wales, Albert Edward, this museum bears the collection of many artifacts, magnificent paintings from different corners of World, even an Egyptian mummy which are increasing the reputation of this museum. This is also a hub for many extracurricular activities like- concerts, rallies, festivals and restaurants.

Birla Temple

This white-marble made beautiful temple is placed as the pearl of Jaipur’s tourism necklace and an integrated part of Jaipur tourist attraction. This temple is dedicated to Lord Laxmi Narayan, and it holds the beautiful architecture, carvings and stunning idol of Laxmi Narayan. The inner walls of this temple bear the carvings of the sayings of the great philosophers like Socrates, Zarathustra, Christ, Buddha and Confucious.

Galtaji Temple

Placed within the Hills of Aravalli, This Galtaji temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is considered as one of the important Hindu Pilgrimage center of Jaipur. The uniquely carved architecture and magnificently decorated pavilions of this temple beholds the tourists. This temple consists of idols of Lord Rama, Surya, Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Hanuman.
